Dental hygiene is an increasingly important area of dentistry. By improving overall dental hygiene you are more likely to maintain a healthy mouth for longer. This is because dental hygiene is focused on eliminating bacteria and plaque – the main contributors to dental decay and gum disease – from difficult to reach areas of the mouth. Our approach offers you prevention against disease, treatment of disease and demonstrates the best way to look after your teeth.
Hygiene advice
There are many benefits to a dental hygiene appointment. At White Rose Dental Practice our experienced hygienist will assess the health of your gums and offer advice about secondary health issues that may be affecting your dental health. The hygienist will also advise on a range of issues including improving brushing and flossing techniques to help you look after your teeth properly at home and keep them free from plaque. They can also explain how to improve gum condition to prevent the onset of gum disease and address early stages of disease.
Hygiene treatment
If your dentist feels you will benefit from a clean, the hygienist will carry out the procedure. Using specialist equipment and cleaning paste the hygienist will carefully remove any plaque or tartar that has built up on the teeth and around the gum line. This will eliminate any bacteria and leave you with a fresher, cleaner and healthier mouth. Most people can be treated in a single visit but, depending on the condition of your teeth and gums, your hygienist may recommend a series of appointments.
